10 Cheap Freezer Meals
For all these meals you will need the zip-lock bags! If you want a more environment friendly option you can use containers but the cost will be more upfront if you do not already have some.
Breakfast
1) Breakfast Burritos
Wrap individually, or store in a container, reheat as needed. Make as many as you desire!
What you will need:
- Chicken breakfast sausage (or the meat you prefer)
- Eggs
- Tortillas
- Cheese
- Peppers
- Onions
2) Oatmeal Cups
Make the oatmeal and divide into a muffin tin, freeze then store in zip-lock bags or a container. Re-heat in the microwave and serve!
What you will need:
- Quick- cook oats
- milk
- brown sugar
- water
- toppings (blueberries, strawberries, chocolate chips anything you’d like)

3) Grilled Cheese With Scrambled Eggs
Store individually in containers or zip lock bags. Thaw night before serving. Reheat and serve!
What you will need:
- Bread
- Eggs
- Cheese Slices
- Butter
Lunch
4) Soup
This recipe is versatile since there are many ways to make soup. Store in zip-lock bags or containers. Can reheat from frozen OR thaw the night before.
What you will need:
- Vegetables
- Broth
- Spices (your preference)
- Meat (your preference, we like to use chicken)
- Noodles or Potatoes
5) Home-made Hash brown Patties
Perfect quick lunch, easy to freeze. You can freeze in zip-lock bags, use parchment paper for in between each hash brown patty. Take out and pan fry with some butter. Serve with veggies.
What you need:
- Potatoes (cook then grate them)
- Onion powder
- salt and pepper to taste (can add while frying)
Supper
6) Shepherd’s Pie
When cooking this meal toss all the ingredients into a slow cooker then assemble into separate containers for easy access. Thaw the night before, heat and serve!
What you will need:
- Hamburger
- Packaged sauce for the hamburger (optional)
- Potatoes
- Vegetables
- Cheese (optional)
7) Chili
Simple yet perfect for freezing and you can make so much of it, it will last a long time. Freeze in zip-lock bags or containers, thaw the night before or cook in pot from frozen.
You can use any ingredients your family prefers for the chili. These are the ingredients I use.
What you will need:
- Hamburger
- Red Kidney Beans
- Chili powder
- Tomatoes
- Tomato sauce
- Tomato paste
- Mushrooms
- Green peppers
8) Lasagna
Always tastes good even after it has been frozen, this is one is best frozen in containers. Thaw the night before or heat from frozen.
What you will need:
- Lasagna noodles
- Hamburger
- Tomato sauce
- Tomato paste
- Cottage cheese
- Cheddar or Mozza cheese
9) Pork Chop Casserole
Best stored in containers and cook the pork chops first, layer them then add the mashed or sliced cooked potatoes and pour the soup over top. Thaw the night before or heat from frozen in the oven.
What you will need:
- Pork chops (I use spices and fast fry these)
- Potatoes (mashed or thin slices)
- Cream of mushroom soup
10) Tater Tot Casserole
This easy freezer meal is great re-heated! Store in containers lined with parchment paper, add shredded cheese when you are re-heating. You can also bag the shredded cheese and lay on top of your containers for easy access.
What you will need:
- Hamburger meat
- Cream of chicken soup
- Tater tots
- Shredded cheese
If you want to spice this dish up you can add cream of cheddar and substitute the cream of chicken for cream of mushroom soup, onion soup mix, onions and mix it all together!
