How To Save Money On Your Bills
Your monthly bills probably make up most of your expenses, it is very easy for them to get out of control and left unpaid. Before I would look at my bills and wonder why they are more and more $$ every month. This is what I would see:
- $$$+
- $$$+
- $$$=
OH MAH DAMN! < my way of saying too much!😅
I will lay out some tips you can do TODAY to help lower your monthly bills. These might take a bit of time out of your day but they will pay off in the long run!

Go Digital
Most businesses now have it so you can go online and view your bills/ make changes to them. This is very convenient and will make the next tip way easier!
This also makes it easier for you to track your bills and notice any mistakes on their part (which does happen!)
👉You can also sign up for a nifty APP called Trim.
- Trim can fully automate your savings and make it easier then ever to cut back on unnecessary expenses.
- Trim will negotiate your bills for you so you don’t have to spend hours calling and being on hold.
- Trim can also cancel any subscriptions you no longer need, check credit card finance charges, auto-payments, late fees and so much more!
Change Your Plans
Most of us probably have certain plans for our cell phones and cable, if you log on to your account you can see how much your plan is compared to others.
Do some research and try to downgrade your plans, this will save you tons. My cell phone was a big one for me, I was paying $60 now I am paying $40 and I only downgraded my data plan.
(Shut your data off and only use it when absolutely needed, my phone wasn’t connecting to my WiFi at home and using my data, which cost me a huge amount before I noticed.)

Equalized Billing
Where I live I know you can do this with your Power Bill, no harm in asking other companies this also.
Equalized Billing makes your payment the same every month so you can budget for it easier. Just keep an eye on them to make sure you aren’t over paying every month. I have been doing this for about 5 months now and it has helped us immensely, especially when it comes to budgeting.
Pay On Time
Avoiding late fees will save you, well duh?! Right.
I know, but it is very easy to miss a payment or pay it after the due date. I use to do this all the damn time! I would budget my bills throughout the month but never once thought about when the due dates actually were.
After you do your budget, call the bill companies and change your due dates to coincide with your budget. If you are not paying your bills on time and are budgeting the same amount every month your bill will never get any lower it will keep getting higher thus your late fee gets higher and same with any taxes because the amount will be more then normal.
Lower Interest Rates
Most Credit Card companies will lower your interest rates if you call and ask. This will make more of your payments going towards the principal instead of just the interest every month. It is worth the shot to call and inquire, most of the time they will lower your rate even by 1% is still a huge help.
Save on Electricity
I never thought this really made a difference until recently I decided to give it a try. My bill dropped $40 in one month! To say I was shocked was an understatement, how I got this result actually took a lot of diligence on my part and to be honest was kind of exhausting. I basically made sure every single device was unplugged when not in use, now if I can get my kids on board it will make life much easier. *It is also summer here so I hung my clothes out to dry*
Applying all these will for sure save you money on your monthly bills!

I agree with all you points. We have used equalized billing and saved some $s by doing this. I have also gone 95% digital and that has made tracking and comparing with previous months so much easier.

Excellent post. I'm looking at my bills and looking to save where I can. With three children, each saved lot means a lot.
