How I started my blog
After welcoming my second child into the world, I found myself yearning for more time at home while also seeking ways to generate extra income for family vacations and other enjoyable pursuits.
With a tight budget, I embarked on a journey of trial and error to master the art of frugal living and budgeting. It was during this time that I discovered the world of blogging, realizing its potential to not only provide an income stream but also allow me the flexibility I craved.
As a complete newbie to the blogging scene, I dived into the massive amounts of knowledge shared by other bloggers through their income reports.
Additionally, I decided to invest in courses offered by Chelsea (herpaperroute) to gain a comprehensive understanding of the blogging landscape. Opting for Bluehost as my hosting platform, I found it to be the most cost-effective and ideal starting point for my blogging journey.
I still use Bluehost 5 years later, I have never had any issues and their online support has always helped me solve any issues.
Can you still make money blogging in 2024?
The short answer is yes and I am living proof, I know this is an income report for October 2023, however, I am writing this in January of 2024. Why?
I wanted to give you a good glimpse into how my monthly income fluctuates so I am bulk writing my income reports!
Yes, I have been blogging for 6 years, however, my small blog of 108 articles was very slow-moving in terms of income.
There are plenty of bloggers who have grown insanely faster than me, but I started this as more of a hobby thus I barely put time and effort into it like I should have!
Now I plan on treating it more like a business!

Income Report for October 2023
October 2023 was the highest-paying month in the history of my blog!
I started this small blog 6 years ago, here is one of my old income reports where I made $102.43. Looking back on that very bad income report (Laughs) I feel like my blog has come a long way.

Expenses
Expenses are hard to figure out since some I pay yearly, however I divided those by 12 so I can include them.

Mediavine Framework (helps with speed of site) – 21.99
TOTAL EXPENSES = $69.81
Blog Income After Expenses = $3,039.81
Considering how little work I have put into this blog over the span of 6 years AND the fact I only have 108 articles posted I am VERY happy with this income!
Blog Goals for 2024
I have some goals for the new year, since I would like to treat this more as a business I am hoping to invest some income back into my blog.
Goal #1
Hire a Virtual Assistant to help with Pinterest would free up a lot of my time to write more articles! Pinterest makes up all of my traffic (google seems to hate me), with that said I really need to find a GOOD Pinterest VA to hopefully help skyrocket my Pinterest traffic.
Diversifying traffic is SO important which makes me want to focus on my Google traffic! This brings me to goal #2.
Goal #2
Crank out SEO-friendly articles. Google needs to notice my blog so I am going to focus on that this year and hopefully grow my rankings so I can see some of the Google traffic!
Goal #3
Set up my storefront for my Printables and courses. Yes, I have a ton of Printables that I have been working on over the years that would help my readers, however, I keep putting it on the back burner but I am planning on rolling that out soon!
Those are my main goals for the year, doesn’t seem like much, but I don’t want to set myself up for failure since I procrastinate a lot and have a scatterbrain. So many ideas but never implementing them isn’t doing anyone any favors!
